Todd Loveland

Todd Loveland was named the first full-time head coach in Idaho State University women’s golf history in October 2022. A native of Boise, Idaho, Loveland brought an extensive background in player development and competitive coaching to the Bengal program.

Idaho State University (2022–Present)
In his debut campaign, he led the team at the 2022 Eagle Invitational, where the squad posted a 54-hole score of 920, which ranked as the program’s second-lowest score at that point. Early in his tenure, Tyler Erickson was named Big Sky Women’s Golfer of the Week following her performance at the Little Rock Golf Classic.

During the 2023–2024 season, the team shattered the program’s single-round record twice in one event with scores of 296 and 294 at the 2023 Big Sky 54 for Title IX tournament. At this event, the Bengals posted a three-round total of 905, which matched the program’s existing 54-hole scoring record. At the 2024 Big Sky Championship, held at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona, the Bengals recorded a team score of 901, which became the new lowest 54-hole score in program history at the time. Under Loveland’s guidance, individual players reached similar milestones; he coached Lexi Wilson to a school-record 67 (-5) in 2023, the first bogey-free round in program history. Wilson’s continued success led to her being named Big Sky Women’s Golfer of the Week.

The 2024–2025 season was highlighted by the team opening the year with a 935 at the 2024 Wolverine Invitational (eighth all-time at the time) and later recording a notable 929 at the Bobcat Desert Classic, which at the time was the sixth-best score in ISU history. This was followed by a team score of 923 at the 2025 Big Sky Championship, which sat as the fourth-lowest 54-hole score in program history upon its completion. Freshman Andrea Chin had a standout debut year, recording a 76.04 season scoring average, the second-lowest single-season mark in program history.

During the 2025–2026 season, the Bengals opened their fall schedule by recording a 911 (fifth all-time) at the season-opening 2025 Wolverine Invitational. The team then set new program records for 18-hole (291), 36-hole (584), and 54-hole (886) team totals at the MSU Yellowstone Invitational (first all-time), eclipsing the previous all-time best by 15 strokes. This was followed by a 915 (seventh all-time) at the EWU Kalispel Invitational. Shortly after, the team earned a fourth-place finish at the UM Sun Mountain Intercollegiate with a total of 904 (third all-time). The successful fall culminated at the Big O Classic in Omaha, where the team recorded a score of 920 (tied eighth all-time).

His tenure at ISU has been defined by consistently challenging and rewriting the program record books, accounting for eight of the top nine and nine of the top 10 54-hole team scores in program history. At the conclusion of the 2025 fall season, these top marks include the current program record of 886 at the MSU Yellowstone Invitational (first), followed by 901 at the 2024 Big Sky Championship (second), 904 at the UM Sun Mountain Intercollegiate (third), and 905 recorded at the 2023 Big Sky 54 for Title IX (fourth). Rounding out his top results are a 911 at the 2025 Wolverine Invitational (fifth), a 915 at the EWU Kalispel Invitational (seventh), a 920 achieved at both the 2022 Eagle Invitational and the 2025 Big O Classic (tied eighth), and a 923 at the 2025 Big Sky Championship (10th).

Prior Coaching Career
Before joining the Division I ranks, Loveland established himself as one of the premier golf coaches in the state of Idaho. From 2018 to 2022, he served as the head boys golf coach at Bishop Kelly High School, where he led the Knights to multiple state championships. For his exceptional results at the prep level, Loveland was twice honored as the Idaho High School Coach of the Year.

His tenure at Bishop Kelly culminated in a dominant performance at the Fall 2022 State 4A Boys Golf Championship. Under Loveland’s guidance, the Knights secured a 37-stroke victory at Sage Lakes Golf Course, shooting rounds of 290 and 285 for a tournament total of 575 (+15). The win marked back-to-back state titles for the program, with all five of Loveland’s golfers finishing inside the top 25 individual standings. Loveland’s ability to develop elite talent was further honed at Lakeview Golf Club, where he served as an assistant professional beginning in 2019, specializing in advanced swing mechanics and tournament preparation. In 2013, he founded TGA Premier Junior Golf of Boise, growing the game at the grassroots level for thousands of youth golfers across the Treasure Valley.

Playing Career and Education
Loveland’s competitive roots began at Borah High School in Boise, where he was a standout golfer. He went on to play collegiate golf at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, where he earned his undergraduate degree.
