Michael Pierce was hired in December 2025 as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at Idaho State University.

"Pierce previously worked at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as the Associate Commissioner for Championships and Internal Operations. He oversaw conference championships, compliance, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, as well as the sports of men’s and women’s soccer, men’s basketball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, baseball, and men’s and women’s tennis.

"Prior to the GLIAC, Pierce was the Associate AD for Compliance at Saginaw Valley State University, where he oversaw compliance, academics, and SAAC. He steered SVSU through an NCAA probationary period, significantly overhauling policies and procedures and re-establishing a culture of compliance with trusted relationships across campus and with the coaches. He also oversaw the sports of women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, baseball, and women’s tennis.

"Before moving to Michigan, Michael was the Assistant AD at Utah Valley University where he assisted with all aspects of compliance and served as the main compliance point of contact for men’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country and track, men’s wrestling, and softball.

"He also has experience in the Big Sky, having served as the Assistant Director of Compliance at Northern Arizona University.

"A Midland, MI native, Michael earned his J.D. from Arizona State University. When he is not working, you can find him playing and watching the NBA, English Premier League, Champions League, and all manner of college sports; reading; traveling; and spending time with his family.
