OGDEN, Utah – Idaho State softball concluded its 2022 season at the Big Sky Tournament in Ogden Thursday afternoon. The Bengals lost 1-0 to the PSU Vikings in a seven-inning defensive battle.
The Bengals finish the 2022 season 25-27 under first-year head coach Andrew Rich.
From the first pitch, the two teams locked into a defensive battle with both pitchers putting on a brilliant performance from the circle.
Haley Rainey dazzled in the circle throwing a three-hitter and striking out six Portland state batters.
The Bengals out hit the Vikings with six hits and had multiple attempts to tie the game but were unable to complete the comeback.
The Orange and Black have much to be proud of this season and will head into the offseason to get some rest and prepare to come back stronger next year.
