POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball program has added Kelvin Jones to the roster for the upcoming 2018-19 season.  Jones, a 6-11, 230 pound center, who prepped at Hobbs High School in New Mexico, just concluded his sophomore season at Odessa College where he played in 18 games and shot 51.3 percent from the field.

"We are happy to have Kelvin in our program," Idaho State coach Bill Evans said. "I know I say this a lot but he is a terrific guy. He gives us something that we didn't have on our roster until he signed and that is a little bit of size. He can really move his feet. He can be a good defender in the post and runs the floor well."

Jones played at UTEP as a freshman in 2016-17 before transferring to Odessa. Jones appeared in all 32 games and played 12.7 minutes a game while averaging 3.4 points a game. Jones had 27 blocks on the year, ranking him 14th in Conference USA. His best game as a freshman was a nine point, eight rebounds, three blocks and two assists vs. Florida International.

In high school he was a member of the 6A state title team where he averaged 14.7 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.2 blocks for a team that went 30-2. Jones, who didn't start playing basketball until his freshman year of high school, had 16 points and nine rebounds in the state championship game as a senior.

Also of note Kyle Ingram was denied a sixth year by the NCAA. He will not return to ISU. During his three years at ISU he received two degrees (bachelors and master's).
