POCATELLO, Idaho- With the first practice of the 2017 season set to start Friday evening, the Idaho State football program is earning preseason accolades as
Skyler Phillips was named to the STATS FCS Preseason All-America second-team.
Phillips returns to the Bengal program for his senior year after missing the majority of 2016 due to injury. Phillips has been a starter on the offensive line since his arrival in Pocatello. He played and started in nine games in 2015, 10 in 2014 and all 12 in 2013.
The Preseason All-American teams had players from all 13 conferences and 55 different schools. The Big Sky Conference had 11 players named to the Preseason All-American teams. Phillips is the first Bengal to earn preseason All-American honors since Rodrick Rumble in 2012.
Phillips and the Bengals report to Fall Camp on Thursday, August 3 with the first practice taking place on Friday, August 4 at 7 p.m. Practices will be open through August 17.

ISU opens the season August 31 vs. Western Oregon in Holt Arena. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
