POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State volleyball team welcomes another for the 2017 season as graduate transfer Makayla Ludin will join the team this fall. Head Coach
Rick Reynolds announced the signing of Lundin Tuesday afternoon.
"Makayla brings a lot of high-level experience and leadership to Idaho State from her time in the Pac-12 and Big Ten conferences," Reynolds said. "I look forward to seeing her compete with our setters for the chance to lead our offense this fall. She is a hard worker and is determined to make an immediate impact here at Idaho State."
Lundin, an Eagle, Idaho native, returns to the state of Idaho after three seasons playing for both Colorado University and Indiana University. During her freshman campaign at Colorado, Lundin appeared in five matches for the Buffs recording 88 total assists, 14 digs and one ace. In two seasons with the Hoosiers, Lundin saw action in 56 sets as a setter, recording 265 assists for a 4.73 per set average. She also averaged 1.29 digs per set while hitting .360. Lundin was named to the Big Ten All-Academic team and was the recipient of the IU Community Outreach award in 2015.
Prior to beginning her collegiate career, Lundin was a standout athlete at Bishop Kelly High School where she was a four-year letter winner in volleyball in addition to a year of golf and basketball. She helped the Knights advance to the state tournament three-straight years (2010-2012), and in 2012 helped the Knights to a 24-9 overall record. As both junior and senior, Lundin was named a first-team all-conference selection; she earned second-team honors as a sophomore. Lundin also earned all-state honors as a senior.
Ludin, a graduate transfer, will be working toward a master's in athletic administration when she joins the Bengals this fall.
