AUSTIN, Texas – Justin Franz and
Sasha Kent placed the finishing touches on their ISU careers at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary Round on Friday, May 26.
Franz finished his senior campaign with a 17.09m (56-1) throw to place 29th in the men's shot put. The Rigby, Idaho native's mark came on his second attempt.
Franz solidified himself as one of Idaho State's greatest throwers by setting the second-best indoor and third-best outdoor throws in school history this season. He won his first conference title during the indoor season with a 17.87m (58-7 1/2) performance.
In the 3,000m steeplechase,
Sasha Kent finished 39th with 11:03.90 on the clock.
Kent solidified her legacy by running the third-fastest 3,000m steeplechase in ISU history at the 2017 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Upcoming
Deante Gaines competes for the second time this weekend tomorrow afternoon. The senior takes flight in the triple jump at 2 p.m. MDT. He enters competition ranked 31st in the NCAA West Region.
