Women's Soccer Inks Eight on Signing Day

POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's soccer team will welcome eight new additions to the squad for the 2016 season as announced by Head Coach Allison Gibson on Wednesday. The newest Bengals represent five different states including California, Colorado, Hawai'i, Texas and Utah in addition to two countries, the United States and Sweden.

Makena Bambei
The 5-foot-7 midfielder reigns from Westminster, Colo. Bambei is a three-year varsity standout at Broomfield High School, earning multiple all-conference and state awards including 2015 first team all-state, 2015 conference player of the year and 2015 first team all-conference. She was also named to the 2015 NSCAA Girls High School All-West Region team and the 2015 BocoPreps.com all-region team in addition to being named the 2015 BocoPreps.com player of the year.  Bambei was an integral part of Broomfield's three-straight state final appearances and led Broomfield Club to a 2015 State Cup Championship, earning Final co-MVP honor for her efforts. Bambei suited up for Westminster AFC from 2009-2014 and helped the squad to various club championships. In addition, Bambei is solid in the classroom as she's been named to the honor roll every semester. She will enroll as a freshman in the fall and plans to major in nursing.

Michaela Didericksen
A 5-foot-8 forward from Grantsville, Utah, Didericksen had a stellar career at Stansbury High School where she letter four years in soccer and track. Didericksen finished as the top scorer in the entire state of Utah in both her junior and senior seasons; she averaged nearly two goals per game throughout her career, netting 111 goals in 65 games. She was named first team all-region, regional offensive MVP and first team all-state. Didericksen has been named to the honor roll all four years and will enroll as a freshman in the fall.

Cailla Fabro
Fabro hails from Waipahu, Hawai'i and will add some depth to the midfield and forward positions for the Bengals in the fall. The 5-foot dual-position forward and midfielder letter three years at Pear City High School and led the squad to win the 2013 OIA Division I Championship. Fabro also earned the Golden Boot award for the 2012 HYSA state championships. A member of the Hawai'i Surf SC, Fabro helped the squad to seven state cup championships in addition to a first-place finish in the top flight of the 2014 Las Vegas Players Showcase. During Fabro's time with Hawai'i Surf SC, the club advanced to the finals of the 2014 San Diego Surf Cup and was champions of the tournament in 2015. Fabro will enroll as a freshman in the fall and is undecided on her major.

Katie Hogarth
The 5-foot-6 goalkeeper hails from Richardson, Texas. Hogarth is a four-year varsity standout, earning 10-5a honorable mention, 6-6a second team all-district and NEPS second team all-tournament honors throughout her career. Ranked 43rd in the high school FAB 50, Hogarth helped her high school win the Allison-Horn tournament in 2013 in addition to reaching three bi-district championships and three area championships with three regional appearances. In addition, Hogarth is an exemplary student as an AP Scholar and is a four-year academic achievement honoree in addition to spending seven years in the gifted and talented program. Hogarth will enroll as a freshman in the fall and plans to major in civil engineering.

Brooke Kortekaas
Kortekaas comes to Pocatello from Alta Loma, Calif. and will provide an additional option for the Bengals at the forward position. The 5-foot-4 forward lettered three years at Alta Loma High School, earning multiple first- and second-team all-league honors in addition to earning all-CIF honors and MVP honors. During Kortekaas' time at Alta Loma High School, she helped lead the squad to a league championship a trip to the CIF quarterfinals.  She will enroll as a freshman in the fall and plans to major in nursing.

Jazmin Lopez
Lopez is one of three signees from California, reigning from Newport Beach, Calif. The 5-foot-5 midfielder has overcome multiple injuries over the course of her high school career to lead her high school to multiple CIF trips, including CIF quarterfinals her freshman year, semis her sophomore year and the first round her junior season. As a sophomore, Lopez scored 23 goals and was named all-league and has currently notched 10 goals her senior season. A three-time honor roll student and four-time athlete of the month, Lopez is also a strong student. In addition, she has also earned six standout student awards for the math department and three outstanding citizenship awards. Lopez will enroll as a freshman in the fall and plans to major in business.

Hannah Shields
Shields hails from Glendora, Calif. and is the lone defensive signee for the 2016 season. The 5-foot-5 defender is a four-year varsity player and has earned multiple awards over the course of her career. The two-year varsity soccer captain has earned multiple all-league honors including being named the defensive MVP. Shields also shines in the classroom, earning academic all-league honors in addition to her soccer honors. Shields will enroll as a freshman in the fall and plans to major in education.

Bella Tropé
Tropé, a 5-foot-3 midfielder out of Malmoe, Sweden, will add even more depth to the Bengals' middle. Tropé helped lead her high school, Procivitas Privata Gymnasium Malmoe, to a 2015 Sweden national high school championship in addition to earning several titles with her club team, FC Rosengard. While playing for FC Rosengard, Tropé was a part of the 2015 U20 national championship, 2015 G17 Gothia Cup, 2013 and 2014 Malmoe Championships in addition to multiple district championships. Tropé will enroll as a freshman in the fall and plans to major in political science.
