Idaho State Track and Field Sends Throwers to Wildcat Winter Open

POCATELLO, Idaho -- Members of the Idaho State track and field throwing team are in Ogden, Utah for the 2016 Wildcat Winter Open hosted by Weber State University. The meet begins today, Dec. 2nd and concludes Saturday, Dec. 3rd.

The men's weight throw and women's shot put are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. at the Weber County Fairgrounds Riding Arena. At 5:30 p.m., the men and women will switch events in the final action featured for the night. 

Cassidy Bassett, Kylie Greenwell, Skyla Liava'a-Fiefia, Madison Cicierski, Christian Brininger and Justin Franz will participate in Friday's events.

It will be the first action in an ISU uniform for Bassett, Greenwell and Liaraa-Fiefia who are all freshmen on the women's track and field team.

Cicierski enters her sophomore year after a freshman campaign that concluded with two entries in the 2016 Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Brininger and Franz look to return to form early in the season. Both qualified for the 2016 Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships. Franz placed fourth in the shot put with a 16.50m throw. Brininger finished 12th in the weight throw with a personal best 16.34m heave.
