POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's basketball team added a familiar face to its roster Thursday afternoon. Head Coach
Seton Sobolewski announced that former ISU volleyball standout
Tressa Lyman will be the newest addition to the 2015-16 squad.
Although Lyman is known for her volleyball career here at ISU, the 6'1" senior from St. George Utah was also a standout basketball player in high school, averaging 15 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game over the course of her career. She also led Enterprise High School to a 24-1 record and the 2A Utah State Championship in 2011, earning the Salt Lake Tribune's 2A girls basketball MVP award along the way.
"With season-ending injuries to both Grace [Kenyon] and Megan [Hochstein], we are very grateful that Tressa is willing to help us out," Sobolewski said. "Tressa is a natural athlete that we actually recruited out of high school to play basketball."
Lyman's standout volleyball career, which included a Big Sky Conference MVP award, two first-team all-conference awards as well as regular-season championship and a trip to the NCAAs, concluded last month with a loss to league-leading Northern Arizona in the Big Sky Conference tournament championship match. Lyman finished in the top 10 in ISU history in eight categories and was only the sixth player in history to reach 1,000 kills, digs and points.
