Henderson and Members of the 5 Championship Teams returning to ISU

POCATELLO, Idaho- October 3-5 will  be a special weekend for the Idaho State soccer program as former Head Coach Gordon Henderson and alumni from the Bengal soccer program since it started in 1998 will return to campus. As part of the reunion, the five Big Sky Conference championship teams will be honored throughout the weekend.

ISU won Big Sky titles under Henderson in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Henderson, who was the first-ever soccer coach at Idaho State, compiled a 55-51-11 record from 1998-2003.

"It truly is an honor to be invited back to Pocatello and Idaho State University," Henderson said. "People ask me all the time...What do you remember the most? I think they expect to hear about certain championship games or titles. Don't get me wrong – those are wonderful memories, but what do I remember most?  The connection as coach, as a father figure and a mentor. I remember the conversations, the little bits of fatherly advice and the fact that I played a small part in the maturation of some amazing young women. The titles and memories are wonderful, but Idaho State should not only be proud of these ladies as former athletes, but also who they have become in life."

Members of 2006 and 2012 teams that won titles under current Head Coach Allison Gibson will also be in attendance. Also of note during Gibson's playing days at Sonoma State, Henderson was an assistant coach for the team.

The Idaho State soccer program has won more championships than any other team in the Big Sky Conference.

Fans will have an opportunity to honor Henderson and the Bengal soccer alumni during halftime of Sunday's, October 5, contest against Northern Colorado. Kickoff for the game is at 1 p.m.

"I am thrilled to welcome back the alumni and coach Gordon Henderson to Pocatello," Gibson said. "Coach Henderson and his players laid the foundation for this program to have success today. The weekend of October 3-5 will be a great time recognize the great history and tradition that Idaho State has in women's soccer. It will be an exciting weekend."

For the Bengal Alumni who are attending the event here is a schedule of events for the weekend.

Stay tuned for more information and a list of alumni who will be attending during the weekend.
