Johnson Joins Bengal Women's Basketball

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State women's basketball Head Coach Seton Sobolewski rounded out his coaching staff with the addition of Ryan Johnson.

Johnson is new to Pocatello but is a veteran of the Big Sky Conference. He was on staff at Northern Colorado for the past eight seasons.

While at Northern Colorado, Johnson spent time as the academic monitor, seeing the Bears finish four times in the top 25 amongst Division I programs in GPA (top GPA 3.414). He was also in charge of guard and forward development, film exchange, camp facilitation and more.

"Ryan brings a wealth of knowledge to our program," Sobolewski said. "He brings to the table the ability to develop players, especially forwards. He has great recruiting contacts worldwide. He has a strong understanding of X's and O's, and is very familiar with the Big Sky Conference having coached at Northern Colorado for eight seasons."

In his time at UNC, the Bears won the regular-season Big Sky title in 2010-11 and played in the Big Sky title game in 2012 and 2013.

Before his time at Northern Colorado he was the graduate assistant at Utah State. He also spent a year as the Director of Basketball Operations at Colorado State.

Johnson joins an Idaho State staff with two other new assistant coaches, Mike Trujillo and Andrea Videbeck.

"We are very excited to have Ryan join our staff. Like Coach Trujillo, Ryan has over 10 years of coaching experience at the division I level," Sobolewski said. "I think Andrea, Mike, and Ryan are steals for us and we are fortunate to have them."
