Hot Hitting Leads to Bounce Back Sweep

By Matt Gittins, ISU Sports Information

POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State volleyball team quickly bounced back from their first conference loss to play one of their best matches of the season sweeping North Dakota 3-0 (25-15, 25-15 and 25-18) Saturday night at Reed Gym.

The Bengals hit .366 as a team. That is their second highest attack percentage of the season, led by four players over .400.

"We weren't making the errors like yesterday and we hit more aggressively tonight," Head Coach Chad Teichert said.

Tressa Lyman posted her second straight double-double recording 11 kills and 11 blocks.

"Everyone was just confident tonight," Lyman said. "We hit in smart places, avoiding the blocks and finding the seams. We were really focused on what we needed to do."

The loss is the first in Big Sky play for North Dakota and moves Idaho State into a tie for first place in the conference.

"It was huge for us to win at home," Teichert said. "We were able to bounce back and I am really proud of them."

Whitney Bartschi-Harrington led the Bengals with 12 kills, Kylee Sessions recorded 12 digs and Hayley Farrer posted 33 assists.

Idaho State hit .542 in the opening set and improved to 16-3 on the season in the first set of a match. The Bengals held North Dakota to a .054 attack percentage for the match.

ISU plays twice at home next week hosting Southern Utah on Thursday before welcoming Northern Arizona on Saturday.
