PROVO, Utah – The ISU women's soccer team competed in its first spring contests Saturday at the BYU Indoor Tournament. Each contest consisted of 25-minute halves.
The Bengals tied UVU 0-0 in the first competition. Both teams had a few shots on goal in the game. Freshman goalkeeper and returning Big Sky Tournament MVP
Sheridan Hapsic had a couple good saves from point-blank range in the contest.
In ISU's second contest of the day, the Bengals fell to Dixie 2-1. The Bengals' lone goal came from junior
Laura Benson with less than five minutes remaining in the contest. Benson put the goal in on a cross to the far post.
“It was our first game since November and it was a great opportunity to get out and play,” ISU Head Coach
Allison Gibson said. “We only had about four starters from last season playing so the team was not very familiar with one another and we weren't able to do some of the things that we wanted. It was a great opportunity for some of the players who didn't get a lot of minutes in the fall to get some time on the field. We did a lot of good things today despite being short-handed at the forward position.”
The Bengals' next spring contest is Saturday, March 9 against Boise State in Boise, Idaho at 2 p.m.
