Bengals, Wildcats battle to 1-1 Draw

POCATELLO, Idaho -Weber State scored first but Allyssa Kenney scored the equalizer in the 49th minute to help Idaho State battle the Wildcats to a 1-1 draw at Davis Field Saturday afternoon.

Shridan Hapsic tallied nine saves including seven in the first half of the game to keep an aggressive WSU frontline in check.

Weber State got on the board in the in the 20th minute of the match when Chansi Crompton beat a defender just outside of the 5-yard box and sent a shot from left to right into the corner of the goal.

The Wildcats kept the pressure on but Hapsic shut the Wildcats down for the remaining 90 minutes of the game.

After the half the Bengals flipped the script and put the pressure on Weber State. Just over three minutes into the second half Kenney sent a 35-yard strike into the crossbar. The ball bounced into the goal for the equalizer.

After that mark neither team could find the net despite great chances. The Bengal's best opportunity came in the 85th minute when Amanda Ellsworth sent a shot high in the frame but Wildcat Keeper Ryann Waldman tipped the ball over the bar for the save.

The ISU backline stopped WSU from attempting a shot on goal in the second half and the first overtime period. In the second overtime the Wildcats attempted two shots on goal.

The Wildcats outshot ISU 17-10 including 10 shots on goal. Idaho State had five shots on goal.

The tie moves the Bengals (5-6-2, 2-1-2 BSC) into the fourth place in the Big Sky Standings. Weber State (7-3-3, 3-1-1 BSC) moves into second place in the conference.

The Bengals finish out their home regular season with Sacramento State Thursday at 4 p.m. and Big Sky leader Portland State Saturday at 1 p.m.
