POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State football team held its final fall scrimmage on Wednesday afternoon at Holt Arena. Starting Thursday, practices is closed as the team begins preparation for Air Force on September 1.
Since the start of fall camp, Idaho State coach
Mike Kramer has been pleased with the progress of his team compared to where the team was at this point last year.
“We are 100 times better than where we were last year, in every area,” Kramer said. “There is not a thing that I wouldn't say we aren't better at.”
The offense threw 45 passes, completing 30 while scoring four touchdowns and one field goal.
Kevin Yost was 21-for-29 for 103 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the team to a 32-yard field goal by
Brendon Garcia.
“Kevin played like a surgeon today,” Kramer said.
Yost hit Cam Richmond on a 25-yard and one-yard touchdown passes.
Kai Campbell caught a 38-yard touchdown reception from CJ Reyes and
Braeden Mitchell scored on a one-yard touchdown run.
Richmond caught seven passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns while
Derek Graves caught six passes for 48 yards and Campbell caught six balls for 110 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively,
Jon Davidson and
Kurt Karstetter both had interceptions that were returned for touchdowns.
Donovan Henley had six tackles while
Demetrius Allen had five to lead the defense.
One player that the coaches have been pleased with defensively is linebacker
Jake Pele.
“Pele is now one of our leaders,” Kramer said.
