SKILLMAN, N.J. – Both the Idaho State men's and women's tennis programs have been honored as 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic teams. Under ISU Head Coach
Bobby Goeltz, six individuals have also been named 2012 ITA Scholar-Athletes.
On the women's side, freshmen
Madelaine Ryan and
Marian Tangarife as well as sophomore
Zamira Vasquez were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
For the men, senior
Dan Buckingham as well as freshmen
Andres Coello and
Austin Miller earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above. All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CA JUCO eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must: be a varsity letter winter, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
