POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State Athletic Department is in the middle of a fundraising drive to raise money for an outdoor practice field just South of Holt Arena. This will be a facility that will benefit all athletic programs at Idaho State along with the Pocatello community.
The donations started in the fall when members of the 1981 National Championship team donated $15,000 when they were on campus for the 30-year reunion.
“Good things are currently happening with ISU football and I am very optimistic about the direction the program is going,” former Bengal football coach Dave Kragthorpe said. “
Mike Kramer and his staff have provided new energy and enthusiasm, not unlike that of 1980-81.”
The new turf will be a low-maintenance surface that ISU and the community can use year-round. It will also be environmentally friendly as it will reduce water usage and the need to fertilize. Bengal coaches will also be able to use the field as a recruiting tool.
All funds for the turf will come from private individual or corporate donations. The goal for the project is $625,000 and the project will not begin until the money is raised.

Jeff Tingey said. “We appreciate the support of the 1981 team in helping us with this project to enhance the student-athlete experience at Idaho State.”
