Soccer Signs Forward from Hawaii

Ka'Imipuakealani Sky-Joey Morreira will join the Bengals next fall

Morreira is the fifth signee for Gibson’s 2012 signing class and the second to hail from the state of Hawaii
POCATELLO, Idaho – ISU Head Coach Allison Gibson has announced another signee to the 2012 class with the addition of Ewa Beach, Hawaii native, Ka'Imipuakealani “Kaimi” Sky-Joey Morreira. Morreira is a 5-7 forward and currently a senior at Moanalua High School.

Morreira is a three-year letterman in soccer. During the 2007 and 2008 season, she was the Miso Junior League leading scorer. She was named to the Hawaii State ODP team in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. She was named to the ODP Region IV Team in 2007. In 2009, she was named to the OIA East second team, received honorable mention in 2010 and was named first team in 2012.

Morreira helped lead her team to an OIA state championship in 2012 and was named her team's player of the game at both the 2009 and 2010 OIA East Championships.

“We are very excited about the signing of Kaimi,” Gibson said. “I have been watching her development for a while now and to see her at her top form is very exciting.  She is the type of player that has the potential to dominate in our conference.  Kaimi's biggest strength is her size and her ability to hold players off as a target.  She is also a scoring threat and will look to compete right away for us.  Kaimi is a club teammate of Vanessa Cabilan and they will bring that bond and connection to us now here at ISU.”

Morreira excels both on the soccer field and in the classroom as she has been named to the honor roll in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 and she maintains a 3.5 GPA.

Morreira is the fifth signee for Gibson's 2012 signing class and the second to hail from the state of Hawaii as she and fellow signee Vanessa Cabilan (Waipahu, Hawaii) have played on the same club team.
