Evans Announces Signing of Chris Hansen

Chris Hansen will join the Bengals this fall.

Bill Evans has signed Chris Hansen from Northwest College.

POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State men's basketball coach Bill Evans has announced the signing of 6-4 guard Chris Hansen from Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming. Hansen was coached by Bengal assistant coach Andy Ward.  Hansen is originally from Fort Collins, Colo., where he prepped at Fossil Ridge High School.

“He comes from a really good junior college program,” Evans said. “That is important to have a guy that has been well-coached. He has already experienced things that he will go through at the Division I level. He is a very good shooter. That is his strength. He can score around the basket and he is just a tough kid. He plays really hard on both ends of the floor and makes his teammates better.”

In his freshman year at Northwest, Hansen averaged 19 points a game and was the team MVP. He garnered All-Region IX honors and was the only freshman in Region IX to be nominated for NJCAA All-American accolades.

Hansen led the state of Colorado in scoring as a senior at Fossil Ridge by averaging 28.7 points a game. He was the team MVP, earned first-team all-state honors and was selected as one of the top 24 players in Colorado to play in the “Show at the Pepsi Center.

Hansen will major in athletic training or physical therapy at Idaho State.
