POCATELLO, Idaho- The Big Sky Conference released its all-conference teams as voted on by the coaches and the Bengals had two players named to the second team. Seniors
Chase Grabau and
Kenny McGowen both received the accolades for their performances over the course of this year.
The last time ISU had a player selected to the second team was Amorrow Morgan for the 2009-10 season.
Broderick Gilchrest and
Deividas Busma were honorable mentions last season.
“This honor is well-deserved for Kenny and Chase,” Idaho State Interim Head Coach Deane Martin said. “They have worked hard and been leaders on and off the court for us. They played a big role in helping us qualify for the conference tournament. I am grateful for their hard work and effort that they have showed this entire season."
Grabau was a leader for the Bengals in several areas of the stat sheet this season. In Big Sky play, Grabau was in top ten lists for scoring at 15.9 points a game (6th), rebounding at 6.1 (8th), assists at 3.3 (9th), free throw percentage at .790 (9th), steals at 1.5 (7th), assist to turnover ratio at 1.4 (7th) and minutes played at 37.1 (1st).
Throughout the season he averaged 5.2 rebounds per game, 13.2 points per game, 3.4 assists per game, 1.9 steals per game and 35.7 minutes per game. Grabau shot 52.4 percent from the field, 77.8 percent from the charity stripe and 38.7 percent from beyond the arc. He is only five steals short of reaching Idaho State's top ten list for steals in a single season with 49.
McGowen has also helped lead the Bengals this season as he places in the top ten for scoring (5th) and three-pointers made per game (1st) during Big Sky play. For the season, McGowen averaged 13.7 points per game, 1.3 rebounds per game, 2.1 three-pointers per game and 28.8 minutes per game. In conference play McGowen has averaged a team-best 17.1 points a game. McGowen shot 36.9 percent from the field, 76.9 percent from the free throw line and 31.5 percent from the beyond the arc.
