POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State men's basketball coach Bill Evans has announced the signings of Justin Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Scotty Tyler (Grafton, Wisc.) to National Letters of Intent in the early signing period.

Smith is a 6-6, 195 wing from Lewis Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., He averaged 12.4 points and five rebounds a game while leading his team to a 27-1 record and the Class 4A state championship where he hit the game-winning 3-pointer in the title game. Smith earned second-team all-state and first-team all-conference accolades. Smith plays for the AAU team, Colorado Chaos.

“We are excited to have Justin be a part of the Bengal family,” Evans said. “He comes from a great high school program that won a state championship. He is a great fit for our program and we are looking forward to his arrival. He is a great example of the type of guy we want in our program.”

Tyler is a 6-7, 205, wing who prepped at Grafton High School. He averaged 14 points and nine rebounds as a junior last year. He played on the AAU team TP Elite. He plans to major in secondary education and his parents are Scott and Barb Tyler.

“Scotty is a good athlete who played on a good AAU program,” Evans said. “He wants to be a Bengal. Coach Walsh has done a good job recruiting him and he has always been interested in coming to Idaho State. He has tremendous upside with the potential to get bigger and stronger in Coach (Mark) Campbell's weight program.”
