Hutchison Named Bengal Athlete of the Week

POCATELLO, Idaho – Senior Bradi Hutchison has been named Bengal Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Snake River Open on Saturday, Jan. 14. Hutchison opened the 2012 track and field campaign by winning the women's 3000m with a time of 9:40.32, a school record. Her time qualifies her for the Big Sky Indoor Championships.
 
This is Hutchison's third Bengal Athlete of the Week nod this year as she received the honor twice during the cross country season. It is the first award for track and field for the 2012 season.
 
Hutchison earned her second Bengal Athlete of the Week for her second-place finish at the Big Sky Championships on Oct. 29. Hutchison ran the women's 5K in 17:43.52, the second fastest women's 5K on the Centennial Course.

Hutchison led the Bengals at every meet during the 2011 season. She won the Bengal Dual versus Southern Utah, the Bengal Invitational, the Brigham Young Invitational and the Color Classic hosted by Southern Utah. At the dual against Southern Utah, she tied the 3K women's Centennial Course record with a time of 10:18.20. Hutchison placed in the top five at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara University.
 
During the 2010-11 track and field season, Hutchison set the record in the 5,000-meter outdoor with a time of 16:29.44 and had the third fastest time in the indoor 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:55.51.
 
Hutchison and the rest of the Bengals compete again this Friday, Jan. 20 at the Montana State Invitational in Bozeman, Mont.
