Sobolewski Given Four-Year Contract Extension

Idaho State owns a 26-11 home record at Reed Gym under Sobolewski

Head Coach Seton Sobolewski lead the Bengals to an 18-12 record last season marking the third best single season win record in program history.
POCATELLO, Idaho - Head Women's Basketball Coach Seton Sobolewski has been given a four-year contract extension. Sobolewski has shown steady improvement in the basketball program under his direction and has led the Bengals to the Big Sky Conference tournament all three of his seasons at Idaho State.

"I want to thank Dr. Vailas, Jeff Tingey, our administration and all of our tremendous supporters for sharing our vision of the future,” said Sobolewski. “I appreciate their support and the investment they've made in us. This is another example how they continue to support us."

Under Sobolewski, the Bengals have extended its Big Sky Conference tournament appearances to a record eight straight with Idaho State makings its 13th program appearance in 2011. In his first year as a head coach, Sobolewski led the Bengals to an 11-20 overall record and a 7-9 Big Sky finish with just an eight person team due to injuries.

Idaho State continued to improve its win total under Sobolewski as the Bengals improved to 15-15 overall record and a 10-6 Big Sky record for a fourth place finish in the conference. Last season, Sobolewski led the Bengals to an 18-12 overall record for the third most wins in a single season in program history. The Bengals also defeated Utah for the first time in school history.

“Since coach Sobolewski took over our women's basketball program he has continued to take it to new levels,” said Athletic Director Jeff Tingey. “We are excited that he will continue to be a member of the Bengal family for another four years. His program has brought an excitement to the community and we look forward to continued success.”

Under Sobolewski, the Bengals have put together an outstanding home court record at 26-11 (.703) over three years. In the last two seasons, Idaho State has owned an incredible 22-4 (.846) record at Reed Gym.

During the 2010-11 season, the Bengals opened with a 10-game home win streak and finished 12-1 for the year. Over his last two seasons Sobolewski's Bengals held a 14-game home win streak, the second longest in school history.

"My family and I have really enjoyed the past three years in Pocatello and we feel very fortunate that we will be here for years to come,” said Sobolewski.
