Bengal Athlete of the Week Archive
POCATELLO, Idaho – Junior forward
Jessa Jeppesen has been selected as the Bengal Athlete of the Week for games played the week of Oct. 31 through Nov. 6. Jeppesen led the Bengals in Saturday's exhibition game against Montana Western with 19 points. The 6-2 transfer from Western Wyoming Community College also pulled down six rebounds in the contest.
The Bengals routed the Bulldogs 100-61 in the match-up, marking the first time ISU has scored 100 points or more in a game since the 2006-07 season when Idaho State scored 102 points in back-to-back contests against Montana Tech (102-59; Dec. 16, 2006) and Montana Western (102-64; Dec.20, 2006).
Against the Bulldogs Saturday, the Bengals went 18-32 from the field and 5-10 from beyond the arc in the first half. The squad then came back after the half and knocked in 20 out of 33 shots. A foul by Montana Western's Brittney Leibenguth sent Jeppesen to the line with 1:25 remaining in the contest where she connected on both shots to put the Bengals at the century mark.
This is Jeppesen's first Bengal Athlete of the Week award and the first for women's basketball this season. Idaho State kicks off the 2011-12 basketball season on the road this week with contests against UTEP Saturday, Nov. 12 and Monday, Nov. 14.
