POCATELLO, Idaho- The Big Sky Conference released its all-conference teams as voted on by the coaches and the Bengals had eight players represented on the various teams. For the second straight year ISU had three players earn first-team all-conference honors as
Rodrick Rumble,
A.J. Storms and
David Harrington received the accolades.
The last time Idaho State had three players earn first-team All-Big Sky honors for two straight seasons was in 2005 and 2006.
This is the third straight year Storms has earned first-team All-Big Sky Conference while it is the second-straight year for Harrington. This is Rumble's first All-Big Sky honor.
“To have
A.J. Storms named as a three-time first-team Big Sky selection is an extreme honor not only for A.J. and his family but for the university,” Idaho State coach
Mike Kramer said. “
David Harrington is a two-time All-Big Sky performer as a punter and both those guys are marquee players for a football team that struggled quite a bit in the wins and losses. It is cool to have
Rodrick Rumble to be named first-team all-conference for us and a returning starter for us next season.”
Idaho State had five players earn Honorable Mention All-Big Sky accolades as
Braeden Clayson,
Josh Hill,
Jordan Monga,
Basim Hudeen and
Donovan Henley received honors. This is the second-straight year Monga and Hudeen have earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.
Rumble had a record breaking junior season as he set the school and Big Sky record for receptions with 112 to go along with 1,348 receiving yards, the second-best mark in Idaho State history. The Bengal junior recorded nine touchdowns and had the third-best single-game performance in Idaho State history with his 218 receiving yards at Washington State.
For the third straight year Storms finished with over 100 tackles to lead ISU defensively. He set the career-tackle record with 434 for his career, breaking Mike Calley's record of 414.
Harrington leaves Idaho State as the best punter to ever wear the orange and black. The Bengal punter finished his two-year career with the best punting average in Big Sky history with an average of 46.29 yards a kick. The Big Sky record was held by Eddie Johnson who averaged 46.27 yards a kick during his two-year career from 2001-02. He also had the best single-season average for a punter this year as he averaged 48.7 yards a punt. He had a career-best 70-yard punt and 29 punts of 50-yards or more.
Monga started every game in his two-years at Idaho State. This year he had 45 tackles and two fumble recoveries. Hudeen played in every game this year and recorded 69 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss.
Henley led the Big Sky Conference in interceptions at cornerback while Clayson was a catalyst on the offensive line for the Bengals in helping the Bengal offense set many single-game and season records. Hill was second on the team in receptions with 48 to go along with 407 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Eastern Washington's Bo Levi Mitchell was named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year while Montana's Caleb McSurdy was tabbed as the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year. The Newcomer of the Year was Montana State's Trey Robinson.
