Hutchison Honored with Bengal Athlete of the Week

POCATELLO, Idaho - Senior Bradi Hutchison has been named the Bengal Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Color Country Invitational hosted by Southern Utah. She won the women's 4K with a time of 14:14.24. This is her fourth win of the 2011 season. Prior to this season, Hutchison had never won a cross country meet.

At the first meet of the season against Southern Utah, Hutchison tied the 3K women's Centennial Course record with a time of 10:18.20. She followed that with back-to-back wins at the Bengal Invitational and the Brigham Young Invitational. Hutchison also led the Bengals with a 53rd place finish at the Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota.

Hutchison, who holds the best 3K time of the season from the meet against Southern Utah, also has the best 4K time of 14:14.24 from the Color Country Invitational, 5K time of 17:57.70 from the Brigham Young Invitational and 6K time of 21:48.00 from the Griak Invitational.

Last week, she was awarded her first Big Sky Player of the Week for cross country. She was previously honored by the Big Sky for the 2011 outdoor track and field season.

Hutchison and the Idaho State cross country team will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, Calif. The race is set to begin at 10:45 a.m. MST.

The Bengals will finish their regular season at home with the Alumni Meet on Oct. 22 and will host the Big Sky Cross Country Championships on Oct. 29, both at the Centennial Course.
